Really wish that we could offer New York Rangers fans hope for the future. But the reality is that the Rangers management has so failed to restock the prospect pool.
When your best prospects are your lower round draft choices then you have a problem. And the Rangers have a problem as while have drafted for size, there is a question about whether they have NHL skill.
Tonight’s Star Ty Henricks
Ty Henricks had a career night to help his sixth-ranked Western Michigan earn a 6-2 win over seventh-ranked Denver in NCHC play. The sophomore had a career best 1-2-3 night to help Western Michigan earn a sweep of their series with Denver.
Henricks started by earning the primary assist on Western’s second goal. He found a loose puck and gave it to his linemate who fired it past the Denver goalie.
Henricks would add his eighth goal of the season in the second period. He is a 6’5 210 lb. 20 year old who is still growing into his body.
Henricks set himself up in front of the Denver net, he found a loose puck and in a sweeping motion threw it into the Denver net. It was a pure muscle goal scored by a man-child of a player.

His third point would be on an empty net goal in the third period. On the season, Henricks is now a career best 8-11-19 and question is how high will this number get.
It took Henricks 41 games last year to score eight goals. This year he did it in 22 games and he has 12 regular season games left.
Rest of the NCAAs

E. J. Emery broke a nine game pointless streak as his fourth-ranked North Dakota defeated Colorado College 5-2 in NCHC play. Emery earned a secondary assist on North Dakota’s fourth goal for his third assist and fifth point of the season.
Now if only he can break his 18 game goalless streak.
Malcom Spence was scoreless as his top-ranked Michigan Wolverines defeated Notre Dame 7-4 in Big Ten play. This was a penalty filled game that saw 14 different players earn misconduct or game misconduct penalties.
Sean Barnhill and his second-ranked Michigan State Spartans were upset by Ohio State 2-1 in Big Ten play. Barnhill was scoreless on one shot and a minor for tripping.
Rasmus Laesson and his Robert Morris Colonials lost a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime decision to RIT in Atlantic Hockey action. Larsson was scoreless as his Colonials dropped their fourth straight to fall to 4-14-2 (4-7-2 Atlantic Hockey).
Brody Lamb was scoreless as his Minnesota Golden Gophers lost 5-2 to Penn State in Big Ten play. Lamb was credited with four shots and was a -2.
OHL

Nathan Aspinall and his Flint Firebird defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 4-1. Aspinall added a secondary assist to his OHL leading point total of 23-34-57.
The captain of the Firebirds is clearly this years best Rangers prospect and his team has the best record in the OHL. Aspinall is on a pace to have a 38-57-95 point season.
Evan Passmore had a primary assist as his Barrie Colts defeated the Brampton Steelheads 4-1. Passmore earned the assist on the Colts first goal of the game.
It was just his second assist and third point of the season. His Colts have the sixth best record in the OHL and lead the OHL’s Central Division.
QMJHL
Raoul Boilard may not be scoring but his faceoff win percentage are at the top of the QMJHL. Boilard was scoreless as his Cape Breton Eagles lost to the Drummondville Voltigeurs 6-3.
The Rangers 2024 fourth round pick was 14-5 on his faceoffs Saturday. Boilard since the trade to Cape Breton has won 77.3% of his faceoffs and for the season has a 65.2% win rate.
But will it be enough to convince the Rangers to offer him a contract? If he was more consistent on offense then the answer would be yes but he is not. He is not a fighter either so a fourth line role might be his place either.
