Five New York Rangers prospects were in action across the CHL on Monday as teams in Ontario and Prince Edward Island played afternoon games for “Family Day” and “Islander Day.”
Greentree Stars in Windsor Rout
Windsor captain Liam Greentree earned first‑star honors with a two‑goal, three‑point performance in the Spitfires’ 7–1 win over the Saginaw Spirit in OHL play.
Greentree opened his scoring in the second period, cutting across the zone from the right boards before ripping a shot that beat the Saginaw goaltender cleanly for his 26th of the season. On the video the play starts at the 2:08 mark.
He added a primary assist on a power‑play goal later in the frame, setting up Carson Woodall to make it 5–0.
His second goal — and third point — came on a highlight‑reel rush (on the video starting at 4:29). Greentree carried the puck from his own end, split two defenders along the right side.
And he finished the rush with a wrist shot for his 27th of the year and a 7–0 lead.
Greentree finished with a 2–1–3 line on four shots, a plus‑2 rating and a minor penalty for cross‑checking. Since joining the Rangers’ prospect pool, he has posted 4–5–9 in six games and sits at 27–27–54 on the season.
Gonchar Scores, Fights in Sudbury Win
Artem Gonchar scored his 11th goal as part of Sudbury’s six‑goal outburst in a 6–2 win over Niagara. The forward picked up a loose puck in the high slot, weaved between two defenders and lifted a backhander into the net for a 2–0 lead.

Gonchar, who continues to flash high‑end offensive creativity, improved to 11–28–39 on the season. He also recorded his first OHL fight in the closing minutes.
Aspinall Adds Assist, Extends Scoring Lead
Nathan Aspinall recorded a secondary assist on a power‑play goal in Flint’s 5–0 shutout of Oshawa. The forward continues to lead all Rangers prospects — and the entire OHL — with a 28–49–77 line.
Passmore Quiet in Barrie Victory
Evan Passmore was held without a point in Barrie’s 8–5 win over Ottawa. The Colts extended their winning streak to seven games and now hold the second‑best record in the OHL.
Boilard, Eagles Stumble on Islander Day
In the QMJHL, Raoul Boilard and the Cape Breton Eagles were blanked 7–0 by Charlottetown on “Islander Day.” Boilard finished minus‑1, took a slashing minor and went 10–4 on faceoffs but did not record a shot.
The loss delayed Cape Breton’s chance to clinch a playoff berth. It kept the Eagles two points behind the Newfoundland Regiment for third place in the Eastern Conference.
