Ten New York Rangers prospects took to the ice on Saturday with once again Nathan Aspinall of Flint leading the way. For a change there was a little support for as there were two other goal scorers from the prospects.
Tonight’s Star Nathan Aspinall Flint Firebirds
Anyone who simply hands the title of best Rangers prospect to Liam Greentree has not been paying attention to Nathan Aspinall. The captain of the Firebirds had a a multiple point night for the 19th time this season.
In OHL play, Flint defeated the Erie Otters 3-1 to extend the Firebirds regulation unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1-0).
The games second star, Aspinall was credited for the primary assist on the winning goal. Aspinall teed off a “slap” pass which he fed to Jimmy Lombardi who scored the Firebirds second goal.
The assist extended Aspinall’s scoring streak to five games (3-8-11) with his 46th (2nd OHL). Aspinall would add an insurance goal when he scored his 27th goal of the season at 8:17 of the second period.
He fired a shot that rebounded directly back to him and with the Erie Otter goalie on his back it was an easy tap in.

Raoul Boilard had a goal as his Cape Breton Eagles defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 5-2 in QMJHL play. Boilard scored his 11th goal of the season at 10:29 of the second period giving Cape Breton a 2-1.
Off the rush, Boilard fired a shot that went high in the corner. It hard some fire behind it and it makes one wonder why he doesn’t shoot the puck like this more?

But Boilard was 5-9 on his faceoffs for the game, a rare bad outing. Overall Boilard is 11-19-30.
Brody Lamb had a goal in a losing cause as his Minnesota Golden Gophers lost to Ohio State 2-1 in Big ten play. Lamb who was moved back to center for this one was all the Minnesota offense from the only goal to a game high seven shots.
He looked very comfortable there despite not being a natural one. On his goal, Lamb picked up the puck and fired it towards the goal and it went it.

The goal gives Lamb his 14th of the season, his third straight game with a goal, and a seven-game scoring streak (5-4-9). The senior captain of the Gophers is 14-14-28 in 29 games and if the Rangers were not planning of signing him then he is going to force them to.
At 14-14-28, that is a new career best for the senior captain of the Gophers.
