Rangers Sign Lamb
What a wild Thursday. The New York Rangers made us eat a few words by signing 2021 fourth‑round pick Brody Lamb to a two‑year entry‑level contract. Sometimes eating your words isn’t so bad when it’s for a genuinely good person.
Lamb has spent the last five years proving he can score from anywhere on the ice. When he gets hot, he’s almost impossible to stop, and he loves driving straight to the net. But when he went cold, it felt like Alaska was warmer.
Lamb has already reported to Hartford, where he’s expected to sign an amateur tryout contract with the Wolf Pack. Just showing up gives Hartford’s struggling offense a boost, and here’s hoping he settles in quickly.
What about Boilard
But if you’re Raoul Boilard, you have to be wondering: where’s your contract?
Boilard is the other Rangers prospect who must be signed this year. The 2024 fourth‑round pick is 20, and New York’s rights to him expire June 1, 2026. At minimum, he’s a reliable defensive center who wins draws—63.4 percent of them this season. That alone feels contract‑worthy for a team that hasn’t had many dependable faceoff options.
And since we’re talking Boilard, he scored his 14th goal of the season Thursday as Cape Breton fell 4–2 to Moncton in QMJHL play. With the Eagles already up 1–0, Boilard carried the puck in off the blue line, used a defender as a screen, and buried it.

The goal wasn’t unassisted, but he did all the heavy lifting. Maybe the Eagles coaching staff will leave him at center instead of bouncing him between the wing and the middle. It’s clear he plays his best hockey down the middle.
Boilard is now 14–21–35 with three games left in the regular season.

Passmore Earns a Star
The strange day continued in Barrie, where defenseman Evan Passmore was named the game’s third star in a 3–2 overtime loss to Ottawa. Passmore didn’t record a point, but he did pick up a fighting major and a 10‑minute misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct in the second period.
Passmore, one of Barrie’s assistant captains, was suspended five games in 2024 for what the OHL labeled bullying. Those who saw the incident said he was trying to protect a teammate. This was only his second fighting major of the season, so it’ll be interesting to see if anything comes of it. Barrie is off until Saturday night.
Greentree Extends Streak To Six Games
In Windsor, Liam Greentree recorded two secondary assists in a 4–3 overtime loss to the Soo Greyhounds. Both helpers came on the power play, extending his scoring streak to six games (7–4–11). He’s now 34–31–65 on the season.
Since becoming a Rangers prospect on Feb. 5, Greentree has gone 11–9–20 in 13 games. The overtime loss stung for Windsor, which sits one point behind Flint for the OHL’s West Division lead.
What Happens Friday?
And now we wait to see what Friday brings—maybe Drew Fortescue’s final game at Boston College. We also have the NCHC semifinals along with the Atlantic Hockey semis as well.
