Passmore, Colts Win, Greentree, Spitfires Lose In Overtime

Evan Passmore (Barrie Colts)

The last two remaining New York Rangers prospects took to the ice on Friday with a split in the results. Good news for Nathan Aspinall and his hopes of being named OHL MVP.

Passmore, Barrie Win Game Two Tie Series

Evan Passmore and his Barrie Colts won game two on the road 5-3 over the Brantford Bulldogs to even that series.

Passmore was scoreless on just one shot which is what is expected from him. The first period saw both teams trade power play goals as Barrie held a slight edge in play.

The second period saw the Colts score twice to go up 3-1 before the Bulldogs would cut the lead to just one goal at 3-2. The Colts would score twice early in the third period going up 5-2 before the Bulldogs would score.

But the Barrie defense held the high-powered Brantford offense in check while dominating play at times. The win allows Barrie to steal away home ice advantage.

The two teams head to Barrie for games three (Sunday) and four (Tuesday).

Liam Greentree (Windsor Spitfires)

Greentree, Windsor Lose in Overtime

Liam Greentree and his Windsor Spitfires lost in overtime 4-3 to the Kitchener Rangers in game one of that series. Greentree was held scoreless on just two shots.

He was moved back to the first line left wing but if Windsor is to have any chance of winning this series, they are going to need production from their captain.

Game two will be in Kitchener on Sunday before the series heads to Windsor for games three (Monday) and four (Wednesday)

Aspinal Finalist For OHL MVP

The OHL named the four finalists for their annual “Red Tilsen” Trophy which is awarded to the leagues most outstanding player. Flint Firebirds captain Nathan Aspinall was named as one of the finalists.

Nathan Aspinall (Flint Firebirds)

Aspinall who finished the season 33-61-94 lead the team to their best finish in their 10 year history. The Flint left wing set a new team record for most assists with 61 as he had a 47 point improvement over his 2024-2025 season.

The Rangers 2024 fifth round selection was also named OHL player of the month for November as he also was 10-7-17 in the OHL Playoffs. Already under contract for next season, Aspinall is expected to turn professional.

If there is any prospect who might make the jump directly to the Rangers then keep Aspinall’s name under consideration. He was the last prospect cut from the 2025 training camp.
