The second round opened with three New York Rangers prospects taking the ice against each other in a battle of West Division rivals. It was Liam Greentree’s Windsor Spitfires up against Nathan Aspinall, Jacob Battaglia and their Flint Firebirds.
Game one of this OHL Western Conference semifinal and their nights couldn’t have looked more different as Windsor beat Flint 4–2 in Game 1.
Liam Greentree — LW, Windsor
Greentree delivered the only point of the group, and it came at a key moment. The Windsor captain earned the primary assist on the Spitfires’ fourth goal, feeding the empty‑netter that sealed the win. The helper pushed him to 4‑4‑8 through five playoff games, continuing one of the strongest postseason starts among Rangers prospects. He played heavy minutes again, handled late‑game situations, and looked comfortable driving play.
Jacob Battaglia — RW, Flint
Battaglia’s night was defined by penalties. He took a high‑sticking double minor, then later got involved in a fight, finishing with nine penalty minutes. He didn’t record a point and never found much rhythm at even strength. Flint needed more controlled shifts from him, especially in a tight third period.
Nathan Aspinall — C, Flint
Aspinall finished scoreless, posted a minus‑1, and generated just three shots. He also took a third‑period hooking minor as Flint pushed to tie the game. His line had moments of pressure but couldn’t break through, and Windsor’s structure kept him to the outside for most of the night.
